[Wylan has had a very weird day. So weird, that using a magical watch to try to contact someone he hopes is the correct Jesper seems normal. He's made it from Oska to Woodhurst, is putting together the details he was given about ALASTAIR and his role here, but he's still feeling unsure and out of his element. He's hoping he's about to hear a familiar voice.]

[ Now there's a voice Jesper didn't expect to hear again for a long, long time. ]

Wylan? By all the sweet Saints, is that actually you?

It's actually me.

[He doesn't need to ask. He can tell it's actually Jesper.]

I never thought I'd hear that cute, merchling voice of yours again!

[ Can you tell he's happy to hear from you? ]

You get pulled into this Alistair business too? It's been just me and Kaz for a few months now.

Jes, what are... [Wylan stumbles over his words as Jesper drops the news of how long he's been in this new place.] Months? How is that possible? I just saw you...

It's something about... time and the way dimensions work. You'd have to ask Kaz, I'm not square on the details.

[ More like he doesn't pay attention, tbh. But this doesn't seem like strange news to him... ]

As far as I know, we'd show up at the same time as we left, once we got out of here. It's real convenient, if what they say is true.

[Jesper's explanation is short on details, but it's definitely not the strangest thing Wylan's heard today. He can force it to make sense even if he's dying to ask Kaz about those details already.]

So this is just a detour? That's better than the alternative.

Yeah, especially with the way we left things with Van Eck.

[ Assuming... You're from the end of Six of Crows too, right?? Surely. ]

Kaz would've lost it by now, otherwise.

[If only that was true. That would make things so much less complicated.]

Why? We left him in jail. That's exactly what Kaz wanted.

In... jail? When he totally just kidnapped Inej?

[ You're not making much sense here, Wylan. ]

[It is definitely Jesper who isn't making any sense.]

What are you talking about? We rescued Inej. I mean, Kaz' plan rescued Inej, but we all helped.

[ Well this is... weird. ]

You sure? Because none of that's happened for us yet.

[ Jesper pauses. He's not the guy for this... ]

This is too weird talking about over these magitek. Let's meet in person-- you got anywhere to stay? Kaz and I have a place by the university.

It happened. I couldn't have dreamed it up. Are you sure the time here works the way you're saying?

[He nods before realizing that's not helpful. Jesper's right, they should do this in person.]

You're near the university? I can get there.

I believe you. I mean, I've heard some seriously crazy stories here, you coming from the future isn't the strangest thing I could think of.

[ Like, the last place had robo animals? And this place has electricity and plumbing everywhere? It's wild. ]

Alright. I'll send you my address. These things have a locator function, you should be able to find us that way, too.

A locator? How does that even wo-- Never mind, you can tell me later. I'll be there soon.

[Well, soonish. Finding his way around isn't going to be the easiest.]

Yeah, there's these things called "apps"? Some of them play music. And Tekflix! But don't worry about it.

[ Was it called Tekflix? Sonia showed him once.... ]

[Wylan makes it to the university. He makes it somewhat close to Jesper and Kaz' address, at least that's what the locator seems to be telling him. Narrowing down the exact street where they live is proving to be difficult, all the street signs are blurring together and Wylan has gotten turned around at least three times. He's resorted to scanning the crowd for them, knowing they must be near by and hoping that they'll stick out in a crowd enough for him to spot.]

[ Ah, right, Wylan would have trouble... Good thing Jesper's got his magitek set to pick up his location, so he knows well enough when he's within range. He steps outside and looks around. In a place like this, Jesper doesn't stick out as much as he would normally, but he's still tall as hell and looking for.....

Well, he's looking for Kuwei Yul-Bo, so he's sure not gonna find Wylan like this. ]

[Well, at least one of them is looking for the right person...

Wylan's not too far off from the correct spot, just a couple meters away and across the street. When he spots a familiar person who is way too tall to be missed, he calls out his name before crossing the street.]

Jes!

[ Jesper looks. No one (besides Kaz that one time) calls him Jes around here, so it's not hard to guess who's calling out his name. Of course, when the person calling his name actually looks like Wylan Van Eck, Jesper's actually, completely surprised. ]

Wylan? [ It's actually Wylan! Give Jesper a moment, he hugs him as soon as the confusion is over. ] Wylan, you got your beautiful face back!

[Wylan returns the hug, even as the pieces of just how ahead in time he is. Of course Jesper wouldn't know that Genya had carefully undone Nina's work, bringing him back to himself. Jesper didn't know a lot of things that had happened and Wylan wasn't sure if he was capable of explaining them all.

Wylan still blushed at the compliment, even though it was so close to words he'd heard before. (He had to admit, beautiful was a much better description than stupid.)]

Well, you said you missed it...

[ Time helps, see, and the months apart may have given Jesper time to get used to his arrangement, but their time in Woodhurst has been... boring. And a bored Jesper gets introspective. Having Wylan around is the perfect distraction. He grins. ]

I said it and I did. [ And honestly, he's tempted to pull him for a kiss but given that people are already staring, it'd probably be a bad idea to cause a scene when there's a bristol outbreak going on. ]

Come on, let me show you our place. Kaz'll wanna grill you on the mission.

[wyvil]

[Kissing Jesper sounds like a much better time than getting grilled by Kaz, but if Kaz is expecting them, Wylan knows it's better not to keep him waiting. Especially since apparently Wylan's been keeping them both waiting for months. He adjusts the satchel slung over his shoulder, ready to follow Jesper.]

You told him I was here?

[endeudado]

Of course. You think we could hide this from Kaz?

[ Kaz would figure it out somehow, Jesper's sure. But he'd tell him either way. They didn't get this far in Audentes by keeping secrets. Or, well, Kaz has secrets. Jesper doesn't. That's how it works, right? ]

He probably won't say it, but I'm sure he'll be happy to see you.

[ Jesper takes Wylan by the hand, leading him down the street to the apartment complex they're living in. ]

Don't tell him I said this, but I think being here has helped him. He doesn't get out a ton, but being able to send messages on our magitek actually means he's actually talking to people.

I wouldn't want to keep it a secret from him anyways. But maybe I should've sent him a message too...

[And not only because keeping secrets from Kaz is next to impossible. Kaz was the first person Wylan told his biggest secret. He's not in the habit of keeping secrets from him.]

He definitely won't say it.

[Wylan grips Jesper's hand as they make the way to the apartment, happy to be lead and have a moment to observe the city that's so different from Ketterdam without worrying about getting lost.]

That's good. The magitek? It's really useful. Much better than letters.
